The new cell phone from Micromax uses EVDO network in the 800 to 1900MHz band. It also supports Bluetooth, WAP and MMS for connectivity.
For entertainment, the E360 has a stereo FM radio with recorder. It can be used to play games, and supports Java based applications and other software. The E360 has a BREW apps platform built in and a video player as well. The device can be used to browse the Internet, access social networking sites and send and receive E-mail.
This Micromax model can store either 1,000 entries in its phonebook or 1,000 SMS messages. Its memory is expandable to 8GB.
The E360 runs on a 1000 mAh battery that is said to give up to 6 hours of talk time or 8 days in standby mode.
Micromax’s E360 isn’t the first Live TV cell phone to be launched in India. Samsung recently introduced two CDMA Live TV handsets called the Corby and Metro. These devices had a built-in MimobiTV application that enabled streaming TV services on demand. While the Samsung Metro costs about Rs 7,000, the Corby TV model is priced at more than Rs 9,500. Samsung had developed the Mimobi TV app in association with Apalya Technologies. When they were released, these two phones from Samsung were bundled with attractive data plans from Reliance Mobile and Tata Photon Plus.
