HTC Desire Users On Virgin Media Get Android OS 2.2 Upgrade

After the Dell Streak, HTC Desire customers on Virgin media are set to get an update over the air that will bring Android OS 2.2 to their handsets.
The update should appear in the notification menu bar of the handset and will be compatible with Virgin Specific firmware (1.23.351.1).
Those with an earlier version will need to upgrade to a later version first before swapping Eclair for Froyo. It is advisable to do the operation over Wi-Fi as the update is expected to be a large one.
Froyo will add the ability to use the handset as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot, HD video recording facilities (with LED), a flash light application, the ability to save applications (and backup) to the microSD card, better performance, Facebook updates and birthday reminders etc.
Oddly enough, Virgin Mobile no longer sells the HTC Desire and the only HTC phone still on sale over there is the HTC Wildfire for a whoppingly high £25 per month on a two year contract.
